Trunch Concerts in St Botolph’s Church.  Season 2018


CANTAMUS   CHOIR

Candlelit Christmas Concert

SATURDAY 8th December 2018, 7.30pm,  with LICENSED BAR

Cantamus Singers is a famous community choir based in Thorpe Market. The choir is led by its inspirational Director Philip Adams who is also the director of Music and Organist at Holy Trinity, West Runton.
Philip’s formative musical experiences were centred on the English choral tradition. He studied organ, choral conducting and piano accompaniment at Trinity College of Music, London.

The program included:
‘The Christmas Story’ by Heinrich Schutz – a dramatic and musical representation of the birth of Christ. It is one of Schutz’s last works and was written in his eightieth year but is as fresh and full of vitality as the works of his youth.
‘I sing the birth’ – Edward Elgar
‘Four Old English Carols’ – Gustav Holst
‘The Five Lesser Joys of Mary’ – Peter Warlock
‘The Manger Throne’ – John Stainer as well as some congregational carols.

The concert  was attended by over 100 people. Total takings were £935 before expenses, thanks to everyone who attended the concert. Photos of the concert are here. 
Tickets at the door – £12 (£10 concessions, free under 16).
All concert proceeds are donated to St. Botolph’s Church conservation and restoration projects.
