SOUTHREPPS CHORALE

Candlelit Christmas Concert

Saturday 7 December 2024, 7.30pm,
St. Botolph’s Church, TRUNCH

Southrepps Chorale
Lucinder Pennick-Yiasimi (harp)
Cathy Al-Bay (piano)

Directed by Stephen Richards

Southrepps Chorale, under their legendary director, Stephen Richards, presents Britten’s seminal ‘Ceremony of Carols’ op.28 (1942), with harp accompaniment, –  as the centrepiece of a glorious collection of Christmas music.

It’s one of Britten’s best-known and most-performed works, composed on board ship as Britten returned to England from the U.S.A. in 1942, a touching evocation of boyhood lost but never forgotten.

Southrepps Chorale is a community choir founded by Stephen Richards in 2011. This will be Stephen Richard’s last concert as Music Director, as after many successful years he steps down from the role.
Stephen Richards is a well-known and loved Norfolk musician, B.Mus. LGSM.  After a career in music publishing, Stephen became active in music making as a conductor of choirs and music theatre and as a performer and teacher of clarinet and saxophone. Southrepps Chorale under his leadership become one of the most successful community choirs in North Norfolk.
