THE CONSONE QUARTET
Haydn,  Schubert, Mendelssohn

TUESDAY 24th May 2022, 7.30pm
St. Botolph’s Church, TRUNCH

BBC New Generation Artists and sensation of Southrepps Music Festival 2021, the magnificent Consone Quartet will play their favourite chamber music in Trunch.

Last summer, the Consone Quartet’s performance was praised as the most sensational at the Southreps Music Festival in Norfolk.

The first period instrument quartet to be selected as BBC New Generation Artists, the Consone Quartet quickly established it’s name for their honest and expressive interpretations of classical and early romantic repertoire.
The Consone are now one of the most exciting ensembles of their generation. Having become very popular, the Consone are in a big demand in the UK and abroad. 2022/3 highlights include Queen’s Hall, Edinburgh; Wigmore Hall, London; Stoller Hall, Manchester; De Bijloke, Belgium; Heidelberg Festival, Germany and tours of North America and Japan.
We are very pleased that, despite their very busy tour schedule for 2022, the quartet found time for Trunch Concerts and agreed to play their favourite music at St.Botolph’s Church. The quality, choice and range of music was great.
The church was packed, with about 90 people in attendance.

Formed at the Royal College of Music in London, the Consone Quartet launched their professional career in 2015, shortly after which they were awarded two prizes at the 2015 York Early Music International Young Artists Competition, including the EUBO Development Trust Prize and a place on the EEEmerging Scheme in France. They went on to become recipient of the 2016 Royal Over-Seas League Ensemble Prize. Their debut CD – released in 2018 on the French label Ambronay – explored music by Haydn and Mendelssohn and was described by The Strad as an album that instantly leaps out of the stereo at you as something special.”

Later the group were invited to perform at the Philharmonie de Paris and Auditorium de Lyon in France, at the Concertgebouw Brugge, AMUZ and de Bijloke in Belgium, Concerts d’été à St Germain in Switzerland and at other venues across Italy, Austria, Bulgaria, Slovenia. Following a tour to South America in 2018 they will make a highly anticipated North American debut in February 2023.
