Following the music of Constantin Sylvestri in the June concert, Anna Hopkins (flute) and David Morgan (piano) – a duo much loved across Norfolk for their recitals under the name Flautissimo – will be playing more evocative Romanian music with Enescu’s lovely Cantabile and Presto from 1904. They will be joined by other members of Norfolk Winds for an entertaining programme of short, often witty and humorous, pieces from England , France and Italy, and topping the programme with the rarely performed, but gushingly romantic masterpiece, the Quintet of Andre Caplet, a close friend of Debussy and orchestrator of many of his key works.
