On Saturday October 8th at 7.30 pm the 19th Season of Concerts in St Botolph’s Church, Trunch, draws to a close with the popular group of singers Vocality! presenting a concert entitled ‘Let the Light Shine!’. The ensemble of 11 excellent and experienced choral singers (many are soloists with other choirs!) is drawn from all over North Norfolk and is directed by Tony Knight, who spent many years of his professional career preparing excellent materials for national initiatives in music education and has used his creative skills to forge this stimulating programme.

The singers, who mostly perform a cappella, will be joined by members of Norfolk Winds (who thrilled their Trunch audience in the August 6th concert!) for some of their pieces. The Winds will also perform a few separate pieces to provide further diversity in the programme.

The programme has broad appeal and includes…

·         Modern music (Carter’s Softly a Light is stealing; Ashton’s  The great invocation; Bozza’s  Musique de Nuit; Lennon/McCartney’s Because; Whitacre’s Lux Aurumque; Harris’ Holy is the true Light; Elis Pehkonen’s Hymn to the Sun’, Gjeilo’s Northern Lights)

·         Romantic music (Reger’s Unser lieben Frauen Traum; Mendelssohn’s Psalm 43 ‘Send out thy Light’)

·         Renaissance Music (Lassus’ La Nuit froide et sombre ; Marenzio’s Scaldara il Sol; Byrd’s Allelui emitte Spiritum; Tallis’ O Nata Lux)

·         Baroque music (Amner’s My Lord is hence removed; Buxtehude’s Durch Adams Fall ist ganz verderbt; Schuetz’ Psalm 100; Handel’s Overture to the Royal Fireworks Music; Bach – O Jesu Christ, meins Lebens Licht)

Admission is by programme, £10 (£8 concessions). These can be purchased at the door from 6.45 pmonwards. We look forward to welcoming you to this last concert, in another very successful season.
