VIVA VOCE SINGERS
Candlelit Christmas Concert
Saturday 9 December 2023, 7.30pm, St. Botolph’s Church, TRUNCH
Viva Voce Singers present an evening of Christmas choral music, both traditional and modern. The programme will include new works by Marques L.A. Garrett (b1984), Suzzie Vango (b1982) and Reena Esmail (b1983), alongside classic well-loved carols, and there will be the opportunity for some audience participation.
Viva Voce Singers are a Norwich-based choir of around 25 singers and winners of the 2011 BBC Radio Norfolk Choir of the Year. Its Musical Director Jody James is also Director of Music at the Church of St Peter Mancroft in Norwich. In 2018 the Royal School of Church Music awarded Jody its Certificate of Special Service in recognition Vof her contribution to church music, stating that her ‘galvanising influence, flair and professional musical skills … enrich the musical life of Norwich’.
“Viva Voce Singers……were in fine form in a representative programme of choral music by Benjamin Britten……..The performers caught its (Hymn to St Peter) spirit of celebration, moving on from its solemn opening declaration to a more intimate section. This sort of flexibility in response was the hallmark of the concert..” – Eastern Daily Press
